A Predator Free group in Stokes Valley made up of like minded neighbours to help keep the area predator free. Also have a project to stablise a slip with native planting within Korau Reserve.
Our 2026 Plans: Shoring up our coverage across the top of the project area which is associated with our collaboration with the Predator Free Upper Hutt groups to create a bird corridor between Upper Hutt and the bush around Wainuiomata. We will also be continuing planting natives in areas with low biodiversity to help shortcut the return of the reserve to its natural state.
How you can get involved:
- Become a trapper!
We have a network of 86 traps over multiple trap lines. Help us bait traps so we can keep catching pests to protect the reserve.
Training is provided to get you started as a trapper. A good level of fitness is required as you will be following unofficial tracks up into the bush. Enjoy the beaty of the reserve while you are in Stokes Valley’s regenerating native bush.
